The 50 Greatest Sophomore Albums in Hip-Hop History

48. The Beatnuts, Stone Crazy (1997)

Label: Relativity

Despite the "third of the trio" Fashion (aka Al' Tariq) parting ways with Ju Ju and Psycho Les following his return from prison for their first full-length, The 'Nuts remained dedicated to refining their sound and kept digging for unused loops.

Boasting the classic "Off The Books," featuring a stand-out cameo from Big Punisher, the rowdy "Here's A Drink," and the hilarious remake of an old Patrice Rushen song for "Give Me The Ass" (the same loop suspiciously turned-up on Will Smith's "Men In Black" later that same year), the Beatnuts continued to live by their motto to "fuck, drink beer, and smoke some shit!"
