Billboard Finally Recognizes EDM With New "Dance/Electronic Songs" Chart

Will.i.am and Britney Spears top the first week's list.

The powers that be officially decided this week that EDM deserves the same recognition as Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin and Country. Billboard just debuted its new Dance/Electronic Songs chart and will.i.am and Britney Spears’ “Scream & Shout” is currently topping the list. 

Rounding out the top ten are Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, PSY, Ne-Yo, Ludacris, Pitbull, David Guetta and Zedd, displaying an already confused definition of “Dance/Electronic.” Officially, the list compiles

With this chart still in its earliest stages, we’re interested to see how underground releases with a sudden online prominence and EDM remixes of pop songs factor in as well as how distinct the list differs from Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart.
