Susanna Hoffs began to pursue music after seeing a Sex Pistols show. The exposure to punk rock led her, along with Vicki and Debbi Peterson, to become the pop music group The Bangles. They released their first EP in 1982 but their first full album All Over the Place dropped in 1984. However, it wasn't until 1986, when they released Different Light that "Manic Monday" and "Walk Like an Egyptian," that they became radio staples.

Two years after Bangles released their third album Everything in 1988, the group disbanded. Hoffs went on to have a successful solo career, and she's now married to Jay Roach, the director of Austin Powers and Meet the Parents.
