Although the past week was slower than normal because of Hurricane Sandy making its way up the East Coast, the music world was not without its notable releases. In addition to Meek Mill dropping his long-awaited debut, others took the time to say thank you to their fans with new tracks, free EPs, and mixtapes. A certain Compton, Calif. MC falls into that category, while one Odd Future standout vented his frustrations on a brief, albeit poignant, new cut.

You'll find those tunes and others in our wrap up of the past week's best songs. Click below to get started.

Sean Price f/ Freddie Gibbs "Remember"

Not Available Interstitial

"Remember" serves as a bonus cut on the iTunes version of Sean Price's tough new album, Mic Tyson. And to celebrate that record's release this past Tuesday, he shared a stream of the Freddie Gibbs-features track. It's every bit as rugged and brawl-ready as you'd imagine, and it boasts a smooth soul-sampling production from Statik Selektah.

Heems "Soup Boys (Pretty Drones)"

Not Available Interstitial

Heems' new mixtape, Wild Water Kingdom, faced an unfortunate delay this week because of Hurricane Sandy. According to the Das Racist rapper, the music was stick in a studio in NYC and, as such, he couldn't drop the tape. That's OK, though, because he provided a wavy new cut, "Soup Boys (Pretty Drones)," featuring some trippy production from Lushlife.

Earl Sweatshirt "Chum"

Not Available Interstitial

Enigmatic Odd Futurist Earl Sweatshirt brought us his first solo cut in some time earlier this week. The new cut is entitled “Chum” and it comes fully equipped with some melancholy piano, a heavy drumbeat, a reflective flow and a jab at this very publication for its role in tracking down the young rapper. Its layered elements come with a complexity that reminds us why we all wanted him back.

Crystal Castles "Affection"

Not Available Interstitial

Lo-fi doom-and-gloomers Crystal Castles shared another taste of their upcoming Crystal Castles III  on, quite appropriately, Halloween. “Affection” finds the Toronto duo bringing a dancier-than-usual electronic beat to an otherwise ethereal cut. As usual, it’s a track driven by Ethan Kath’s unique vision and Alice Glass’ dark and powerful pipes.

Kendrick Lamar "The Jig Is Up (Dump'n)"

Not Available Interstitial

Because releasing a great album was not enough, Kendrick Lamar decided to shake up the airwaves once more with "The Jig is Up (Dump'n)." On this recently recorded track, which features some choice words for Shyne, Kendrick goes off on a lyrical tantrum feeding off of the bass-heavy J. Cole beat. Could this be a preview of their joint album? Here's hoping.
