In a recent interview with VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live, Creed frontman Scott Stapp stopped by to promote his new memoir and to tell a pretty bizarre story. Apparently the singer, after several days of binging on drugs, once tried to take his own life in a hotel in Miami. Stapp jumped from his balcony and fell 40 feet to the group, fracturing his skull in the process. He came too, though, to see his “guardian angel,” T.I. standing above him. The rapper reportedly happened upon the suicidal Stapp and “took care of the situation and saved [his] life.”

The unlikely pair, Stapp explains, met in 2004 and talked about their mutual love of the band Alabama at the time. As fate would have it, T.I. was wearing an Alabama hat when he found the Creed frontman lying on the ground. Watch the interview up above.
