We are sad to report that Oakland hip-hop DJ Matthew Africa was killed this Monday in a car accident while returning from a trip with his wife to Yosemite National Park. His wife escaped the accident with multiple fractures, but Matthew was killed instantly in the collision. He was 40 years old. This is a very tough loss for of course his family but also the local Bay Area hip-hop community, who loved and respected him very much. Read Matthew's sister's Facebook post about his passing below.
