The absence of Q-Tip on Cruel Summer had a lot of people curious. When MTV caught up with him at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, they had to ask why he wasn't on the album. Q-Tip wasn't sure if he should let the cat out of the bag, so he called over his G.O.O.D. Music associate Pusha-T to confirm it was alright to drop the news. He didn't say exactly what the deal was, but his statement makes it pretty clear:
"If there's a Cruel Summer, then there's got to be a Cruel Winter, right?"
