The iconic Lower Manhattan skyline is a pop culture fixture, and before the September 11th tragedy, the glistening Twin Towers of the World Trade Center made appearances in film, art, and of course, music. A number of artists have either been photographed with the towers, or used them in a backdrop for music videos.
In honor of 9/11, Complex is taking a look back at some of music's most iconic images of the WTC. From Jay-Z, whose music video for "Dead Presidents" is filmed near the site, to Ryan Adams, whose "New York, New York" video was filmed just four days before attacks. These photos offer memories of happier times, but never forget the thousands of lives that were lost on that fateful day. Rest in peace.
