Who Is Bago?

Bago: “I listen to a lot of different types of music. I grew up listening to Etta James, Molly Jackson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton. I miss Amy Winehouse so much too, she was amazing. Dolly Parton was definitely the biggest lady in my life. My dad was a big Johnny Cash fan, so that was what played at his memorial, Johnny Cash. That got me into country music.

“Every new artists is always going to be compared to somebody else. Most artists hate that, I don’t know why. Music is a very emotional thing. People are very emotionally connected to one artist for one reason and different artists for another reason. If they give you this laundry list of different artists they think you sound like, it’s not a bad thing.

“[People have said I sound like] Amy Winehouse, who is my favorite. That was the biggest compliment I got. And also Erykah Badu, that was so tight. Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu? That’s epic. I can’t give myself that much credit but that’s tight. Those are good comparisons.”
