2 Chainz is getting a positive response for his Def Jam debut, Based On A T.R.U. Story, reaching No. 1 this week on the Billboard charts. Like many artists, Chainz’ music has reached a certain young demographic in mainstream America that has the power to make a change. He's embracing that by joining a campaign to get the youth to be more involved in the democratic process.

In June, we introduced The Hip Hop Caucus and explained its significant of helping to empower youth minority voters. During Chainz’ in-store appearance at DTLR Baltimore location for his album release, he invited the organization to come engage the local teenagers and encourage them to register to vote.

Chainz explained the importance of participating in the democratic process, which persuaded over 100 people to register. This shows the impact that the “Respect My Vote” initiative can have to educate and give proper tools for voting in the 2012 Presidential Election this November.
