After an eight-year hiatus, it seems Okayplayer Records is finally getting ready for a comeback. Founded by ?uestlove of the Roots, the label closed shop indefinitely back in 2004, and hasn't made a release since that year's compilation, True Notes Vol. 1.

This week ?uestlove confirmed that Okayplayer Records is back with two releases set for this fall. First up, the label will put out Payback by Atlanta rapper Danny! on September 25. Then, two weeks later, it will put out Essentials Vol. 1, a re-release of Young Guru’s first instrumental album. Regarding the news, ?uestlove said, “I’ve been waiting years for the right moment to re-launch the label … I’m excited for what the future holds for Okayplayer Records.”
