Five years after Modern Guilt, Beck is getting ready to release a new album, but it won’t exactly be his most accessible work to date. According to a press release, Beck Hansen’s Song Reader is “an experiment in what an album can be at the end of 2012.” The reader takes an “almost-forgotten form — 20 songs existing only as individual pieces of sheet music, never before released or recorded.”
Beck’s “album” comes complete with a carrying case, ukulele notations, and orginal art from the likes of Marcel Dzama, Leanne Shapton, Josh Cochran and Jessica Hische. Beck Hansen’s Song Reader is due out this December via McSweeney’s.
