Hip-hop forefather Afrika Bambaataa can officially add a new line to his impressive résumé: visiting scholar. That's exactly the title he's taking on at Cornell University, where he'll begin his three-year term in November. Each year, he'll visit the Ithaca, N.Y. campus for several days, during which he'll meet with student groups, speak to classes, and, of course, perform.

For those not familiar with Cornell, it's of particular interest to note that the university's library boasts the largest national archive on hip-hop culture and features thousands of recordings, flyers, photographs and other artifacts outlining its birth in South Bronx.
