Producer: Jack White
Label: Third Man, XL Recordings, Columbia
There's a complexity about Jack White that sets him apart from most musicians. He possesses a certain rootsy wisdom, but he also has the ability to get completely unhinged. On "Love Interruption," the debut single from Jack's first solo album, we got the controlled, deliberate side of Jack. That was fine and everything, but it wasn't until the unrestrained "Sixteen Saltines" that we heard the side of Jack that we really love. The raucous Blunderbuss track is unfiltered, gritty, and feral, proving once again why Jack White is a rock star.
