The One of a Kind Music Access bus, presented by Dr Pepper, has rolled into Brooklyn, New York, a spot with unparalleled hip-hop heritage. From Biggie Smalls to Yasiin Bey, MCA to Jay-Z, Brooklyn rappers have taken the medium all over the planet.
Complex's Ross Scarano had a chance to talk to rising rap star K. Flay about the notorious borough, as well as her unique style of cutting-edge hip-hop. K. Flay would be easy to judge at first appearance (a slightly built white girl, she doesn't exactly fit the profile), but her music is a lot like how she describes Brooklyn; you never know what you're going to find. By blending genres in search of the perfect sound, she has developed a musical style all her own.
There are still 2 more stops on the One of a Kind Music Access road trip, so keep checking in with Complex for more videos, pics, and updates. You can also keep up with the #alwaysoneofakind hashtag on Twitter for up-to-the-minute information.
