Aside from Hot 97’s Summer Jam, the Roots also held their 5th Annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. The legendary hip-hop collective held it down throughout the weekend as headliners for the star-studded festival. Once they took the stage, they started off in style, with a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere.” In giving a proper tribute to Adam “MCA” Yauch, who recently died after a long battle with cancer, the crew gave the audience what they deserved.
