The 100 Best L.A. Rap Songs

96. Xzibit "Get Your Walk On" (2000)

Album: Restless
Label: Loud
Producer: Mel-Man & Battlecat

The third single from Xzibit's Restless was notable for its sudden start (how many rap songs kick in as abruptly as this one?) and of course its excellent beat from Mel-Man and Battlecat. Getting your walk on is, of course, a reference to the Crip-walk and the Blood-walk, dance moves associated with their respective gangs. The video for the song had children doing the C-walk, which made it look oh so innocent—but still totally deadly if done in the wrong neighborhoods of L.A.
