We caught up with Riff Raff at his big official signing to Diplo’s Mad Decent label party last night at Blok, a swanked-out Hollywood club that included a packed house of party goers sipping on bottles of bubbly with sparklers blowing out the tops and exotic strippers dancing against the walls. Riff Raff and label boss Diplo were in high spirits—and quick to keep it moving on anything related to the Twitter madness of Soulja Boy’s rants against the effervescent Raff. They’ve moved on and are making big plans for the future. We recommend that you keep up with these folk, if you can.

What’s really good with this Twitter beef?
Riff Raff: Twitter, Twitter… The Soulja boy situation… That’s done and over with. I’m over here with Diplo. I’m trying to enjoy my party.

Diplo: We’ve just moved on. We’re doing some other things now.

Riff Raff: We’re doing new things. I ain't got nothing against him. He’s doing his thing I’m doing my thing. It is what it is, like if he wanna work with me in the future, I’ll do some stuff with him. Right now I’m just focused on this Diplo album.

My album ain’t gonna come out until next year, because I really wanna take the time so when people hear the album they treat it like a real album.

Duly noted. So what’s up with the album?
Riff Raff:
Diplo been working with me on taking stuff more seriously. My album ain’t gonna come out until next year, because I really wanna take the time so when people hear the album they treat it like a real album. They like, “OK, he done dropped 200 songs, now he droppin’ 10-15 more songs for the album. I’m trying to make that Diplo album be like the best record ever in the world.

Diplo: Everything he’s got going now, from the videos to the whole culture putting it out on the Internet just leads up to putting out a record that’s gonna be like everlasting you know. Because I think he’s got that talent.

What made you want to sign Riff Raff, though?
Diplo: I think that just like, my track record of making records all the way from MIA all the way to, like, Justin Bieber and Usher, means that I have quality control and I love to make good music. I think rap music is at a high point right now like with underground culture, overground pop and just like so many good talented young rappers and people are so open-minded. The audience is just open-minded and what he does is just gonna be wild. Like everything that’s great about the rap scene right now, Riff Raff is doing it. I feel amplified.
