The Kickdrums – comprised of  singer Alex Fitts and  producer Matt Penttila – have spent years experimenting with elements of alternative rock and hip-hop.  Their genre-bending style really hits home when they collaborate with artists that step outside their comfort zone. Follow The Leaders, which was released in April, takes this proven formula by letting indie artists like Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire and Casey Veggies shine on new soundscapes.

The opener, “Thieves In The Choir,” from their most recent output gets quite an unusual, yet cinematic experience. Directed by High Rez, Fitts’ vocals are reinterpreted through psychedelic blurs and drugged out girls decked out in ski masks. Casey Veggies, who also looks equally menacing in a black ski mask, spits a slick verse. Overall, it’s one of those videos where the strange and floaty vibe will actually grow on you.
