It's tough to pinpoint an exact genre to put Matisyahu's music in. He came in the game as a reggae/hip-hop singer and rapper, known for his contemporary Jewish roots music, tremendous beatboxing skills, and impressive live show. Over the years, his wide palette of influences were reflected more and more in his recordings, as he began to blend rock and electronic sounds with his reggae melodies, rapid fire raps, and jam band sensibility. He even managed to score a pop hit in "One Day," which became a 2010 Winter Olympics anthem and was certified Gold by the RIAA.

With Spark Seeker, his upcoming studio album, Matisyahu is continuing his evolution as an artist with a new look (he shaved his beard and went blonde) and more genre-bending, saying, "My musical tastes are all over the board." He continues, "My music is about searching out inspiration wherever it lies. This album is about seeking that spark within." The album features production from Kool Kojak, who has worked with Nicki Minaj, Travis Barker, and Ke$ha, and appearances on two tracks by rapper Shyne. Listen to his first single "Sunshine" below, a catchy, feel-good tune with a positive message. Spark Seeker drops July 17th.
