J Dilla's Mother Starts Ruff Draft Records To Release His Music

J Dilla's mother, Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey, has started her own record label as a means of putting out her son's previous unreleased music. She's calling it Ruff Draft Records as an homage to his 2003 (and later 2007) project of the same name. The first release through the label will be Rebirth of Detroit, which drops June 12.

Ma Dukes said the following to AllHipHop on the creation of Ruff Draft Records:

“I’m a hip-hop head and I love it…We want to make it more feasible to interact with these children, we don’t know how many J Dilla’s we have out there. Somebody has to find them.”
