When Drake implied that the "bad bitches" working at Riker's Island made his trips to visit Lil Wayne a little better, it seemed like a far-fetched claim. These types of boastful assertions are not rare in hip-hop, but this one was especially suspicious. On Lil Wayne's "It's Good," Drake raps:
"Rikers Island on this flow, 8 months for that pistol
But at least they had some bad bitches workin’ in that shit hole
Three visits later, I went and did it major
So fuck the judge, and the jury, and the litigator"
Upon further investigation, there may actually be some truth to this. Riker's Island has encountered their fair share of disciplinary issues lately, triggered after discovering that some of the female guards were getting a little too close to the inmates. Just this week, it was announced that one lady officer was arrested for having sex with an inmate. An ex-guard described the situation to to the New York Post:
"With 3,890 female officers guarding some 12,000 men, outlaw love blossoms. It's a soap opera. There are a lot of lonely single women on the job, and you're surrounded by these cute guys. They're working out. They're attractive."
Over the past years, several female employees have been fired for crossing the lines with prisoners. Interestingly enough, one of those women was Amelia Negron, who lost her job as a guard because she was caught entering an authorized area where Drake's good buddy Lil Wayne was being held.
Bad bitches, indeed. Did Drake have sex with a prison guard? We may never know, but his claim about the women working at Riker's Island is no lie.
