The 100 Best Wu-Tang Clan Songs

21. Ghostface Killah f/ Raekwon, U-God, Masta Killa, & Cappadonna "Winter Warz" (1996)

Producer: RZA
Album: Ironman/Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood: The Soundtrack
Label: Island

Hectic rhythms bolstered by intergalactic laser beams signal another onslaught of battle raps from the Wu-Tang Clan blitzkrieg on the melting-hot "Winter Warz." Raekwon rocks the chorus: "Yes, the shit is raw, comin' at your door/Start to scream out loud, 'Wu-Tang's back for more!'/Yes the hour's four, I told you before/Prepare for mic fights and plus the cold war." (Rae spits the whole thing twice, the other times shortening it.)

Masta Killa, still an unknown wildcard at this point, continued to grind out a name for himself: "And as far as the coroners know/The autopsy show/It was a Shaolin blow/Put on by my family and brought to the academy/Of the Wu and learned how to fuck up your anatomy/Calm and deadly."

The song is halfway through when Cappadonna makes sure everybody remembers him, rappin' his ass off for the rest of it. Representing Park Hill, the Papi Wardrobe King informs us that "every other day my whole dress code switch." Cappuccino would continue to bring heat; this was just him warming up.
