Quote of The Day: 9th Wonder Says "Watch The Throne" Is Not For Him

"I just checked it out.#WTT. WTT as a whole is not for me. I can rock with “New Day” & “The Joy”. I understand expansion/experimentation in music, but its not for me. It has nothing to do with samples vs. keys, cause I ROCKS with The Neptunes, Swizz, etc...As a musician/beatmaker/active participant in hip-hop, I want to be SCARED when I hear something, like when I heard Aquemini. It has nothing to with the STYLE of rap, subject matter, NOTHING. Its the FEELING for me. U can KILL 50 people in a song as long as it bangs." - 9th Wonder, expressing his thoughts on Watch The Throne. [via Twitter]

haha yep If i was a producer and wasn't blessed with the invitation of a lifetime to take part in history....I'd say Watch The Throne isnt for me too. 9th and consequence should make an LP and sell it in the parking lot at the Izod Center November 5th, for free ninety nine.

When I first heard Aquemini I only liked Rosa Parks and Art of Story tellin pt 1. But like Aquemini as you really listen you become blown away. Also its really funny 9th only likes the RZA and Pete Rock produced tracks, says something about how he might actually feel.

For me the Pete Rock joint is the only track that has a hip hop sound to it. Rest of the album is more hip pop, which doesn't have to be a negative thing...

But I actually agree with 9th, the album as a whole isn't for me. It simply has a very different sound to the sound that got me into hip hop. New times I guess but there still are a lot of new cats coming up with that old school hip hop sound. Dom Kennedy, Pac Div, U.N.I. and a lot of japanese producers...
