LimeWire was the most successful peer-to-peer file sharing programs, but file-swapping copyrighted material is illegal, founder Mark Gorton has been in a constant struggle with the federal government for the past two years. His revolutionary creation was brought down by the Feds after the abundant amounts of money he allegedly owes record labels were tallied up. LimeWire was soon resurrected by a secret development team.
Today, Gorton is still cornered by the government. The courts will be investigating the LimeWire head in hopes to figure out his net worth, determining whether or not he attempted to hide assets six years ago to avoid paying damages in the copyright lawsuit. In May, the record industry is said to be suiting up for a fight with Mark Gorton, who is potentially looking at a payment of tens of billions of dollars.
