Maureen Yancy, mother of James DeWitt Yancy better known as J. Dilla, announced that a new album from her deceased son will be released this fall, titled The Rebirth of Detroit. The album will be a compilation of Dilla's unreleased music and features only Detroit artists that worked with her son prior to his Lupus-caused death.
Mrs. Yancy also states that one of the goals of this posthumous album will be to promote unity within the city's hip-hop community.
