In an excerpt from the book EMPIRE STATE OF MIND: How Jay-Z Went From Street Corner To Corner Office by Zack O'Malley, he tells a story of Jay-Z during the The Black Album era when he wanted to make a run at a championship in the Rucker Park tournament.

Fab Five Freddy was supposed to document the entire thing, alongside the opening of 40/40 and the release of his Reekbok S. Carter shoes. The team he put together, featuring basketball players like Lamar Odom, Jamal Crawford, LeBron James and Sebastian Telfair lost to Fat Joe's reigning champions Terror Squad, in the championship game.
