"Ego Trippin' Pt. 2" is a classic. "Ego Trippin' Pt. 3" is not quite a classic, but out of the large batch of lesser-known De La songs it is one of the very best. Spearhead X of Ya'll So Stupid fame (using the term lightly) throws Pos and Dave a rolling, funky track and they take to it with enthusiasm. The subject matter is typical De La—we hear all about their origins and transitions in the music biz, shady execs and managers, and artistic integrity. The insularity of the themes is counterbalanced by the fluidity and effortlessness of the rhyming; this is Pos and Dave's "Steve Biko."

#63 used to be my joint...bumped it in the whip constantly...that is an example of a hip-hop song that is perfected, stripped down beats and rhymes....crazy

I don't care who you are—if you were even remotely curious about the process of producing hip-hop music, your mind was blown the second you realized that Tribe had turned Minnie Ripperton's whistle-pitch vocals into an instrument ^^^^^ This.
