It's all about the music on this song. Tip and Phife repurpose their signature "Check the Rhime" back-and-forth patter for the inaugural single from Beats, Rhymes, and Life. It would be a stretch to say that they phoned in their performances, but I think its fair to say that this song is really meant to introduce the Ummah production team. And it's a great introduction—moody and sultry, yet strangely catchy.
