Journeymen: A History of Rappers With Multiple Label Affiliations

In the past two weeks we've seen some very unexpected moves in the rap game. First, Dame Dash claimed that the chained remained and that Curren$y's debut album would be released on Roc-A-Fella. Then earlier this week, Def Jam announced that it had signed Sheek Louch (the third best rapper in the three-man LOX crew) to a solo deal. The one thing that Curren$y and Sheek have in common is that they've both been through a bunch of labels. Curren$y has been on No Limit, Cash Money, Universal, Amalgam Digital, and now Roc-A-Fella. On the other hand, Sheek started his solo career on Universal, went to D-Block/Koch, then to something called Real Talk Entertainment, and now Def Jam (We're guessing Sheek is probably going through another label before it's all said and done). But rappers switching labels multiple times in their career happens more often than you think. Don't believe us? Just take a look at Complex's History of Rappers With Multiple Label Affiliations...

Why you wouldn't use the lyrics in the same song for Fat Joe that goes... "The name is Fat Joe/The label's Relativity" is beyond me

hhnf bricked sales wise but, it was still classic lyrically and on the production side for the most part. Big Bang was ahight. it seems like i remember 'Touch it' being a big single for a moment.

Real Talk Ent + Amalgam Digital don't really count since it's more mixtapes or street albums they release

With Camron, you forgot to mention that he was initally signed to Lance "Un" Rivera's label, which was distributed by Epic, a subsidary of Sony. Lance got stabbed, the label folded, and Camron was folded into Epic. And for anyone to believe Cams rhymes about running up in the offices and smacking grown folks around is just silly. Cam was being difficult, and was recording. He said that about 60, to 70 percent of Come Home With Me was already recorded when he joined the Roc. Epic didn't like the music he was making, so he couldn't get another album release date. Dame came in the picture to help Cam out at Epic. Dame listened to the music, thought it was good, and negoiated to get Cam off Epic, and to the Roc.
