A Tribe Called Quest "Award Tour" (1993)

Kon Says: That’s A Tribe Called Quest's sample for “Award Tour.” They slowed it way down. Weldon Irvine is a tragic story—he blew his brains out on the New Jersey Turnpike in the early part of this decade. I think at the time, he was teaching Q-Tip how to play keys, and he also played on one of my favorite Mos Def records, "Umi Says."

Also used by the Bomb Squad again on 'Night of the Living Baseheads'. I reckon the Isleys were first with this. JB had a bit of a rep for nicking other people's instrumentals. And replacing a vocal with horn lines seems more likely than the reverse.
