The Grunt

Artist: The J.B.'s
Released: 1970
Sampled On…:
Public Enemy "Rebel Without A Pause" (1987)
(Produced The Bomb Squad)
The J.B.'s

Kon Says: There has always been a debate on who came first with that record, The Isley Brothers or The J.B.s. Obviously, it’s Public Enemy's sample. They flipped it and put it backwards, also Ultramagnetic used it and Show and A.G. used it. Great record.

Also used by the Bomb Squad again on 'Night of the Living Baseheads'. I reckon the Isleys were first with this. JB had a bit of a rep for nicking other people's instrumentals. And replacing a vocal with horn lines seems more likely than the reverse.
