An Arizona sixth-grade teacher has found herself in some seriously hot water after the parents of a 13-year-old boy uncovered sexually explicit text messages between their son that indicated the two were involved in a relationship. Police arrested 27-year-old Brittany Zamora, a teacher at Las Brisas Academy Elementary School in Goodyear. The texts between Zamora and the boy suggest they engaged sexual activity both off and on school grounds.

The boy’s parents uncovered the texts after having installed an app to monitor his phone. According to School District interim district superintendent Richard Rundhaug, the boys parent’s alerted the school’s principal on Wednesday night, before police were informed. Lisa Kutis, a spokeswoman for the Goodyear Police Department, said, “The text messages found are sexual in nature [and] allege an ongoing relationship between the two.” According to a police report, Zamora and her husband called the boy's father and "[pleaded] with him not to contact the police."

Parents at Las Brisas Academy Elementary School were notified of Zamora’s arrest through an automated message. Police are conducting interviews to see if Zamora was involved with other students. “We’re not ruling that out,” Kutis said.

As for the school, Rundhaug issued a statement on the Las Brisas Academy Elementary website saying, “The safety of our students is our #1 priority,” and that they are “fully cooperating with the Goodyear Police Department and will comment further at the appropriate time.” However, it appears that statement has since been taken down.
