It's becoming more and more obvious that Trump's presidency has enabled white supremacists to attack people of color, especially immigrants.

According to CBS News, a white man shot and killed an Indian immigrant on Feb. 22, 2017 in the suburbs surrounding Kansas City, Missouri. The shooter yelled "get out of my country" just before opening fire, affirming that the crime was racially motivated. Witnesses also reported other racial slurs were used by the shooter.

The deceased victim's friend, also an Indian immigrant, was wounded, but not killed, when he attempted to intervene.

The shooter fled 70 miles from Olathe, Kansas to Clinton, Missouri. He was stopped in a bar after confessing his murder to a bartender, who notified law enforcement of the tip.

The Root explains that the 57-year-old will face a life sentence in prison. The FBI opened a hate crime investigation months following the initial incident. A federal grand jury deemed the violence toward the two victims as intentional and specific, "knowing that the act created a grave risk of death to a person.”

This is far from the only xenophobic attack planned against immigrants. Just last week, a firefighter was accused of spitting and using a racial slur toward a pre-schooler. In October 2016, a "right-wing militia" was arrested for plotting to bomb Muslim Somali immigrants.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court recently sided with the Trump administration by ruling that immigrants can be detained indefinitely.
