One would think after an entire year, one would get used to the remarkably idiotic comments coming from the President on what seems like an hourly basis.
Nope. Prepare to be astounded once again. As the Associated Press reports, Trump told the nation’s governors on Monday morning that unlike certain law enforcement, he would have run into the line of fire at the Parkland school shooting. According to Trump, “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon.” I don’t think Trump has ever moved faster than a brisk walk in his life.
Trump told the 39 governors that he had lunch with major players of the NRA this weekend, in order to address gun violence and school safety. (NRA leaders definitely use AR-15s to cut their steaks.) Anyway, 45 says that NRA officials “want to do something” and that he was surprised word of the alleged lunch didn’t make headlines. Trump cushioned his statement that there’s a need to strengthen background checks by telling the governors that that there is “no bigger fan of the Second Amendment than me.” He also told the governors that there needs to me increased access to mental health institutions and called the Florida gunman a “sicko.”
Last but certainly not least, Trump says he's "writing out bump stocks." I'm shocked to hear such sense coming out of the President's mouth, but I am very much on board.
