Multiple people have been injured after a car ran into a group of pedestrians near Logan International Airport in Boston on Monday, Boston 25 Newsreported. The reported injuries are of "varying severity," Massachusetts State Police said. Boston Emergency Medical Services initially reported 10 patient transports from the scene to nearby hospitals.
The incident occurred near the airport taxi pool. The 56-year-old taxi driver reportedly "stayed on scene," according to Boston 25 News' sources, and appeared to have accidentally accelerated while attempting to push the brake. All those injured are believed to be fellow taxi drivers.
Police said there was currently "no information" that would suggest the crash was an intentional act. An anonymous police source told the Associated Press that the crash was being treated as a case of "operator error."
In a statement to press Monday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police confirmed the crash remained under investigation. The involved vehicle has been seized. At the time of this writing, the taxi pool at Logan International Airport remained closed.
