Tuesday afternoon in Chicago’s Loop, a white man was caught on video launching into a racially charged tirade at a Starbucks. The man, who has been identified as 23-year-old William Boucher, used the terms “slave” and “disposable vermin,” among other offensive language, during his outburst.

The apparent cause of the argument was that a black man had spilled coffee on Boucher’s light-colored suit.

A local news photographer captured the incident on video.

Warning: the footage below is graphic and, frankly, hard to watch.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., according to the Chicago ABC affiliate. Boucher has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor battery, according to Chicago police.

During the argument, Boucher suggested the black man should be tagged with a bar code with his Social Security number.

At different points in the heated situation, Boucher yelled, “Your children are disposable vermin!” and “Get on all fours right now! Get on all fours! Do not walk off on two legs!”

The bystanders showed incredible restraint by not physically engaging with Boucher, who even spit on a 30-year-old man and 34-year-old woman.

“Calling people racist slurs. When I was coming to work, I was not expecting to see that,” said Juan Torres, an employee at the Starbucks.

Starbucks employees said Boucher had been a problem customer in the past but he had never been violent.

Boucher is scheduled to appear in court July 5.
