Here's a high schooler we don't see getting into the Ivy League any time soon.
Eighteen-year-old Sheboygan, Wisconsin resident Josephine Garczynski, along with her 27-year-old boyfriend Curtis Britton, were arrested and charged on Wednesday after they were accused of trying to set up a meeting with a weed dealer so they could rob him. The alleged crime went down on Sunday night, after Garczynski chatted up the victim on Facebook, asking him to "meet and hang out."
Went the meet went down, the victim hopped in Garczynski's car and Britton subsequently hopped in the backseat where he put a gun to the guy's head and demanded his wallet and cell phone.
Investigators were able to track down the pair after identifying Garczynski through her Facebook alias, "Josephine King." From there, they found her at her dad's house where she admitted to a detective that she set up the meeting with the victim for the purpose of stealing his marijuana.
"She stated her intent was to take [the victim’s] stuff," the criminal complaint said, according to the New York Post. "She said she was trying to set him up and said she had $250 that she wanted to buy weed from him … However, Josephine stated her intent was not to pay, but rather to steal the marijuana and ultimately sell it to make money."
Unsurprisingly, after that admission, she was placed under arrest. The criminal complaint further states that she asked the arresting officers if she could put on a bra. Officers took her to a bathroom where she began to sing some song called "Free Josephine."
After that, she asked her dad to snap some pictures of her being led out on handcuffs so she could post them to her Facebook page (presumably some time after she makes bail). "While officers were in the process of handcuffing Josephine, Josephine began asking her father to take pictures of her being handcuffed," the complaint said. "She said she wanted to put the photos on Facebook."
Safe to say she's probably not grasping the amount of trouble she's in. If convicted of the felony of armed robbery as a party to a crime, both she and Britton face up to 40 years in prison. It's unclear if they've hired attorneys, or if Facebook will still be a thing by then.
