You never really think about the impact that memes can have on their subjects until you build a fuckin’ tiger statue and it gets destroyed because too many people were making fun of it on the internet. That’s exactly what happened on Monday to some guy’s sculpture that was standing in front of the Siliwangi Military Command in the Indonesian province of Cisewu.

The sculpture, which may have been more at home in say, an elementary art room, was busted up after too many people tweeted about it, and made it trend. Especially this one guy:

On Monday a crew tore it down with chisels, because even thick-skinned military men have a breaking point:

According to what the military’s base commander told the BBC, the statue/mascot was erected and thrown up a long time ago. “Every unit has their own decision on how the statue was made, but sometimes the artist was not that good,” he said. Seems like a bit of an overreaction to obliterate something just because it was getting meme'd to death.

Let's just say good thing they don’t have access to Michael Jordan.
