After a buzzkill detective in Portsmouth, New Hampshire continued to detect the smell of marijuana coming from a local residence, he put together a team of police to bust down the door so they could raid it. In the process, they found a grow site in the rental home's basement, complete with 51 plants with a street value of about $100,000, according to Seacoast Online.

As if that wasn't a bad enough day for the grower, 47-year-old Christian Lydon, he was also charged with two felonies and had to part with an additional $15,000 to bail himself out. He'll be back in court in less than three weeks.

Like many a carbon monoxide accident before it, let this be a cautionary tale to take the ventilation in your home seriously. Especially if you're housing a sophisticated drug operation.

As for the cops, instead of putting it to good use by selling/smoking it, they stored the excess pot in the evidence room, which just so happens to be in the town's city hall. Just like the detective, pre-raid, now everyone within the area can smell the weed plants. Some even claim that due to a ventilation problem in the evidence room, the stench is so overwhelming that it's making them sick.

According to High Times, police lieutenant Mark Newport said that the plants' odor is so immense that it's traveled up an elevator shaft into the main city hall building where many of the town's government offices are located. In response the police are solving their problem by using duct tape, plastic sheeting and an air purifier. Very impressive.

Seems like a perfect example of karma if there ever was one.
