Uber is typically a solid option for times you want to avoid delayed trains or to circumvent the need for a designated driver when spending a night out drinking. But a new viral Instagram post shows that one Uber driver uses the service to help riders turn up.
Artist Miho Hatori recently posted a video of an Uber driver in New York City turning tables on a DJ app while simultaneously driving Hatori around the city. “#Uber getting fee di next level. #seatbelt” she wrote in the post. The DJ/driver was putting his or her own spin on the song “Rockabye” by British electronic group Clean Bandit. The table turning isn’t exactly masterful, but hopefully that’s because the driver had all eyes on the road ahead.
Seasoned New Yorkers might not be surprised to see such a multitasking driver. Yet, though the DJing Uber driver might be helping riders take their pre-game to the next level, the scenario is clearly not optimal for safety. Texting while driving is incredibly hazardous, and it’s not hard to see how spinning tables, even when on a tablet or phone, could be fraught with danger.
Buzzfeed editor Alex Naidus perfectly summed up the both hilarious and mortifying nature of the video in a tweet that has already received thousands of retweets and likes.
