A man in Australia gave police what he thought was a breast implant involved in a crime but actually turned out to be a jellyfish, reported police. Safe to say this Australian amateur crime solver should leave this kind of work to the pros, like the duo who stopped a robbery during a night on the town and the homeowner who shot a home burglar with a bow and arrow.

Maroochydore Police posted on myPolice Sunshine Coast Friday that the unidentified, and now embarrassed, man went to the Maroochydore Station to report a homicide with evidence in tow. The do-gooder from the Sunshine Coast thought the circular item was the prosthetic breast implant of someone who may have been murdered or drowned.

The man was reportedly thorough and took what he thought was evidence and put it in a bag before giving it to police. Police accepted the item from the man “at his request” and gave him a receipt for the circular item. After some investigation, police determined the item was really a washed up jellyfish (as they had suspected).

Police were such good sports they posted a close up photo of the gelatinous creature’s corpse, an officer posing with the so-called evidence, and a photo of the officer holding up the jellyfish and receipt for the evidence.

This may not be the only time something like this happens: Mashablewarns that more jellyfish will wash up on shore as temperatures get warmer off the coast of Queensland.
