One person is dead and six others are wounded following a shooting near the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, according to reports. Police are currently looking for the shooter or shooters involved with the incidents, which CNN reports may be related.

The first incident reportedly occurred after a fight at a party escalated on the 300 Block of E. Green St. in Champaign. In a statement, the city confirmed that police reported to the scene at 12:38 a.m. after shots were fired, wounding four people who were not involved in the argument. One died from his injuries after being taken to the hospital.

"Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has identified the deceased as George Korchev of Mundelein, IL," said the statement. "Mr. Korchev was pronounced dead at 1:02 AM at Carle Foundation Hospital." 

A fifth individual was reportedly hit by a car after running from the gunfire. 

At around 1:08 AM, police received a second report about about shots fired on the 700 Block of S. State St. in Champaign. An individual was later taken to the hospital with "non-critical" wounds, the city's statement reports.

Police reportedly believe that the shootings may be connected. "Police are seeking a suspect(s) in both shootings as well as the driver involved in the vehicle accident," the city's statement said. "Investigators are currently processing the scene, reviewing video surveillance and interviewing potential witnesses."
