Private account details for nearly 800,000 Brazzers accounts have been leaked as part of a massive data breach. The accounts were exposed via the popular porn site's accompanying forum Brazzersforum, Motherboardreports. Additionally, some Brazzers account holders who never signed up for forum access may have been impacted by the hack.

Vigilante.pw, a website focused on monitoring potential data breaches, estimates the dump contains 790,724 individual email addresses. Usernames and passwords were also included, with security researcher Troy Hunt verifying the validity of the leak by contacting several impacted Brazzers subscribers.

Brazzers' head of public relations, Matt Stevens, revealed to Motherboard that the unfortunate incident "matches" a prior breach that happened back in 2012. "The incident occurred because of a vulnerability in the said third party software, the 'vBulletin' software, and not Brazzers itself," Stevens confirmed Monday. "That being said, users' accounts were shared between Brazzers and the 'Brazzersforum' which was created for user convenience. That resulted in a small portion of our user accounts being exposed and we took corrective measures in the days following this incident to protect our users."

The forum site currently displays a maintenance message, with the usual chat services unavailable for the time being. vBulletin breaches of this variety, Hunt told Motherboard, have recently become relatively common. "Vulnerabilities have been found and patches have been issued yet the admins have maintained the product and very well-known, easily exploited vulnerabilities have led to breaches like this one," Hunt said.

Sweating future data breaches of this nature? Using a throwaway email address and impersonal username and password combinations when signing up for these services can help lower the risk of being identified in a data dump.
