Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's whirlwind week, which has included meeting with an excited hair-ruffling fan and a tiny terrified-looking girl, ended with a stage collapse after an event Friday. The event? Trump's admission that Barack Obama was in fact born in the United States.

The stage collapse happened live on TV at the latest addition to the Trump International Hotel chain in Washington, D.C. as MSNBC's Katy Tur was reporting from the event after Trump's speech. "And the stage is falling apart behind us," Tur said turning to look behind as people shouted "Whoa." RawStoryreported there was no one injured in the collapse.

The event, billed as a press conference, saw Trump put a rest to the long-running "birther" movement, of which he was the most prominent advocate, saying, "President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period." It also saw Trump falsely place the "birther" blame on opponent Hillary Clinton in 2008 when she ran against Obama, a theory the Republican candidate first tried out early on in the presidential race. Trump's statement comes one week after VP Mike Pence came out to say he "accepted" Obama was born in the U.S.

Trump did not directly address his long history in the birther movement, including his backing of conspiracy theories.

How amazing, the State Health Director who verified copies of Obama’s “birth certificate” died in plane crash today. All others lived

Talking about Trump's week wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Flint Pastor who shut Trump down when he tried to use a speech to criticize Clinton.
