Rio Olympics 2016

It's now a well-known fact that Olympic athletes love to get it on with one another during the Games, and now, thanks to technology, hooking up Olympian style is oh so much easier with Tinder. According to the Associated Press, Tinder matches increased in Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Village 129 percent over the past weekend, the first of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Swedish judoku Marcus Nyman told the Associated Press he made 10 Tinder matches his first day in Rio, adding that "a lot of the athletes are using the app." 27-year-old French fencer Yemi Apithy said he has been using Tinder at the Games "just for distraction" and he had "for sure" been making a lot of matches, adding: "I am a pretty boy."

The AP reported that athletes from just about every sport have been swiping around in Rio, posting topless or bikini photos of themselves in Brazil with statuses such as "Looking for fun in Rio!" and the very creative "Got plenty of time to kill."

Luckily for all parties involved, the Olympics have supplied an unprecedented 450,000 condoms in the Olympic Village this year in anticipation of all the getting-it-on the athletes would indulge in when not performing impressive feats of athleticism. The London summer Games in 2012 provided only (only...) 150,000 condoms in the Olympic Village, the condom record at the time.

Given the peak physical condition of the athletes who are all couped up together in the Olympic Village (with nothing to do but win medals) and the overall popularity of Tinder, it's really no wonder that the app has been such a hit in Rio.
