Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh, North Carolina is currently on lockdown after reports of gunshots being fired, according to area station WNCN. Eight people were injured in the resulting stampede to leave the mall.
So far, despite the mass exit of the mall and several eyewitness reports, police have not been able to confirm if there actually was a shooting.
Reports of gunshots happened at around 2:30 p.m. after witnesses claimed they saw two men arguing in a food court, and saw one of them fire four times.
After the massive exit, police evacuated hundreds of people and have put the mall on lockdown, not allowing anyone to enter or exit.
Around 100 people are currently gathered across the street from the mall, and police have blocked Glenwood Avenue. No arrests have been made as of press time. It is expected that people will be let back into the mall to gather their belongings sometime this evening.
UPDATED, 8:17 p.m. ET: Raleigh police provided another update to WRAL.com, stating they do not have anyone in custody or identified any suspects. The mall is empty, and has not been cleared by authorities for people to go back inside.Lastly, the investigation is still ongoing.
