The world's Pokémon Go obsession may now finally start paying off. Ripley's Believe It Or Not has just launched a contest called #RipleysGo, which has a $5,000 prize. The winner will be the person who finds the rarest Pokémon at one of the company's attractions.
The contest started on July 15 and runs until July 24. You can play if you are in the U.S., the UK, Australia, or Canada. That last one could be tough, however, as the game has not actually launched yet in Canada.
In addition to the grand prize, Ripley's is giving out $100 every day to a random player. To determine the grand prize winner, Ripley's has created a ranking index of the Pokémon creatures' relative rarity, from "very common" to "legendary."
Though the contest was a day old as of this writing, there were already plenty of entries.
Pokémon Go has taken the country by storm since its release on July 6. It is the most active mobile game ever, with over 21 million users. It has become more popular than Tinder, has added billions of dollars to Nintendo's valuation, and has even been referenced by Presidential candidates.
The game has also led to several injuries and to people finding corpses while exploring hard-to-find areas during gameplay.
