Texas Mom Killed by Police After Fatally Shooting Her 2 Daughters

Christy Sheats, 42, called a family meeting before fatally shooting her two daughters.

A mom and her two daughters are dead after the woman shot and killed the two young women, and police shot and killed the mother. According to a press release sent to Complex from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, 42-year-old Christy Sheats called a family meeting on her husband's birthday on Friday before fatally shooting her children.

During the gut-wrenching and disturbing 911 calls made from inside the house at the time of the shooting, young women can be heard screaming and crying, saying, "Please don't shoot us!" At least one person said "I'm sorry" multiple times. Additionally, a man can be heard saying, "I promise you whatever you want." One of the calls was just very brief and quiet sobbing. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook that the calls were made by Sheats' daughters, Taylor, age 22 and Madison, age 17.

Another call was made by a neighbor, who did his best to describe the incident to the 911 operator.

The press release further stated that Sheats shot Taylor and Madison during the family meeting, then Sheats' husband, 45-year-old Jason ran from the house. Madison fell to the ground and died soon after exiting the house, but Jason and Taylor continued to run in different directions. Sheats pursued her daughter shooting Taylor a second time.

At this point, witness says Sheats ran out of bullets, returned to the house to reload, then shot Taylor again, this time fatally. Taylor was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital but died after her arrival.

The Sheriff's Office press release further stated that when police arrived, Sheats refused to drop her .38 caliber pistol, which is when a police officer shot Sheats once, killing her.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy E. Nehls wrote a Facebook post about the shootings, calling the incident "an unimaginable tragedy."

NBC News reported that police are unclear as to Sheats' motive, but Jason is cooperating with the police investigation.
