Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's wife Heidi made a huge leap in logic Tuesday when she compared her husband's campaign goals with the long road to end slavery. Speaking with the campaign's National Prayer Team over the phone, Heidi encouraged everyone not to give up hope over achieving their objectives because it took more than four years to overcome slavery.

"Be full of faith and so full of joy that this team was chosen to fight a long battle," Heidi said during the conference call. "Think that slavery—it took 25 years to defeat slavery. That is a lot longer than four years," the Texas Tribune reported.

The pep talk came after her husband announced he would end his campaign for presidency following Donald Trump's win in Indiana on May 3.

Earlier in the call, Heidi said, "I don’t want you to feel like any of this was in vain. I believe in the power of prayer. This doesn’t always happen on the timing of man, and God does not work in four-year segments." Ted won't be concentrating on what he can achieve through the presidency, but will instead to return to the Senate with she described as an "enormous agenda."

She added, "I want to assure all of you that this was not a race we gave up. This was a race that no longer had a viable path to victory, and it would’ve been very demoralizing for you all and the troops to go through nine states of losses. We left on a high note. We left when there was no possible way that we were going to win."

It's not the first time Ted's wife has made such a rhetorical misstep. On April 30, she accidentally called her husband an "immigrant," a term he worked against as he attempted to prove he was a natural born citizen eligible to run for the presidency.

Trump naturally had a field day with the mistake. "Heidi Cruz—nice woman," Trump said at a campaign stop. "She said this one: 'My husband's an immigrant!' He's an immigrant! That's what I've been trying to say!"
